Penny recently made this move. After years of paying rent for a retail space, Penny decided to move her Interior Decorating business to a Melwood studio in her backyard, and couldn’t be happier.
“For twelve years I owned a shop with gifts homewares and decorating and paid rent. Earlier this year I decided to close the shop and move my decorating business to my home…and created my dream working environment”
Finding the right studio
“It didn’t take me long to find my ultimate garden studio at Melwood Cabanas. I loved all the different designs and the quality of the Cabanas that I saw at the show site.”
Penny’s ultimate garden studio is the Melwood Porch No.20. It measures 6.3m long by 3.2m wide, providing plenty of space inside without taking over the garden.
As Penny found, one of the most important steps in choosing a garden room is to visit a display centre.
Setting up shop (at home)
Once the studio was delivered & installed, it was time for the exciting part – painting, fitting out & decorating the studio.
“My husband John built display cabinets housing all my fabric and wallpaper samples. He laid floating floorboards and I have blinds displayed on the windows.”
Penny and John were able to complete all of the fit-out themselves except electrical, and have created the perfect space for showcasing the wide range of products & finishes available to Penny’s clients.
“I get a thrill every time a client pitter-patters down the pathway and I hear the oohs and aahs as she expresses delight at my new surrounds 💗”
