Sam saw his neighbour’s Melwood and knew it was just what he needed to replace the ugly metal garden sheds he had hidden along the side of his house, and in doing so created the perfect space for Abbey, his beautiful 14 year old kelpie.
“We had a couple of aluminium DIY sheds along the side of the house well-hidden because while they are functional, they are pretty ugly, whereas the Melwood is a great looking structure.“
With an easement running across the full length of the backyard, the options were limited for Sam. There was a shaded lawn section that was always damp and boggy, and the back of the yard dropped away significantly, making most of the backyard unusable.
“The outdoor porch has slotted in beautifully with a new additional deck which complements the existing one, so the garden area has now been re-landscaped and looks so much more appealing than previously.“
With tall piers to accommodate the drop off, Sam’s Melwood replaced the shaded lawn area, creating a focus point for the new landscaping, which transformed his backyard. Whilst doubling as great overflow storage for his golf clubs and bikes, his kelpy Abbey also now has the perfect place to hang out and lounge during the day.
Sam has found that his Melwood has added the much-needed (dry and secure) storage space for large items like his golf clubs and bikes but also in turn freed up space in his garage which was becoming overcrowded with storage, impacting on his vehicle space.
Sam chose the Melwood porch design No. 10 and customised the dimensions to 2.6m x 2.7m so that it fit perfectly in the space. He kept the porch area at the standard size of 2.6m x 1.3m, but personalised his design with board & batten cladding, a sliding white window & Colorbond Roofing™️ in “Deep ocean”
